Braxton Myers appears to be leaving Oxford before playing a regular-season game for Ole Miss.

Myers, a blue-chip defensive back out of Coppell (Texas) who was selected to the All-American Bowl high school all-star game, signed as part of Ole Miss’ 2023 recruiting class. He enrolled early for the spring semester. Now, with spring practice in the books, Myers has reportedly entered his name into the NCAA transfer portal.

David Johnson of 247Sports reports that Myers has asked for a release from Ole Miss.

On the 247Sports composite rankings, Myers was rated 4-stars, the No. 17 safety, No. 38 Texas product and No. 222 prospect overall nationally. He initially committed to USC on Sept. 7, 2022, but flipped to Ole Miss on Sept. 29 and signed with the Rebels in December.

The Rebels roster lists Myers as a 6-1, 190-pound freshman cornerback. During his recruitment, Myers picked up 34 offers. Auburn, Arkansas and LSU were among his finalists before his initial commitment to USC.
