Once the NCAA allowed players an extra year of eligibility since the 2020 season was not counted against them, some teams are getting some added depth at certain positions.

The Ole Miss defense is set to get a boost out of that. Ole Miss senior LB Lakia Henry has told the media that he plans on taking advantage of the extra year of eligibility and coming back for a second senior season in 2021, Nick Suss of The Clarion-Ledger reported.

“I will be coming back next year,” Henry said, per The Rebel Walk. “I feel I can go in the first three rounds, and I’m going to put my all into it next year.”

Henry added, “I have to increase my football knowledge. There was a couple of times out on the field I didn’t know what was going on. I didn’t come out as strong as I wanted. I just have to work harder, if we’re being honest. I expect more of myself and this team expects more from me.”

The 5-foot-11 and 235-pounder is from Vidalia, Georgia, and previously played at Dodge City Community College. He tied for the team lead in tackles with 62 during the regular season, and he did not take part in senior day activities before the Egg Bowl. He also had 2.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, three quarterback hurries and a pass breakup.
