Ole Miss is expected to host former Alabama linebacker Kendrick Blackshire on a recruiting visit, according to a report.

That news comes via On3’s Zach Berry, who notes that Blackshire was originally recruited to Tuscaloosa by current Ole Miss defensive coordinator Pete Golding. Blackshire was a member of Alabama’s 2021 recruiting class.

Blackshire would be a big addition for Ole Miss’ defense. This past season at Alabama, he recorded 16 tackles, 1 tackle for loss, 1 fumble recovery and 1 forced fumble. His lone tackle for loss this past season came against Ole Miss. Blackshire also had a role on special teams for the Crimson Tide.

He was a 4-star prospect in the class of 2021. Blackshire is originally from Duncanville, Texas. He’s listed at 6-foot-2, 233 pounds.

Ole Miss has been very active in the transfer portal as it attempts to load up its roster for the 2024 campaign. The Rebels have already earned commitments from 12 transfers so far this cycle. The transfer class ranks No. 1 nationally, according to 247Sports Composite rankings.

Blackshire has one year of eligibility remaining.
