The Seattle Seahawks were thrilled when former Ole Miss WR D.K. Metcalf fell to the end of the second round, where they scooped him up.

Metcalf was projected by many to be a first-round pick, but he fell further than anticipated. He ended up in a good spot, though, and it seems he’s already a popular guy in Seattle.

As rookies make their debut this week, coach Pete Carroll has been impressed with how Metcalf has looked (via SeattleTimes.com):

“He may be even more unique than we thought,’’ Carroll said. “There has never been a guy who ran any faster who was that big and strong at the combine. So he’s got all those things behind him. Now he’s got to figure out how to play football.’’

Metcalf has a long way to go, but the early returns are all positive, and that’s an important first step.

How will he fare in his first year? We’ll find out this fall.
