The Hugh Freeze recruiting train is still operating at full capacity even after the team began its training camp earlier this week.
This week alone two prominent recruits mentioned Ole Miss on their short lists of school they’re considering. Four-star defensive end Kyle Phillips tweeted a top-five list Wednesday afternoon that in “no order” included Ole Miss, Tennessee, Alabama, LSU and Tennessee State (where Phillips’ mother is the athletic director.

Phillips is ranked No. 162 on the ESPN 300 recruiting list for the class of 2015, and is considered one of the top prospects in the state of Tennessee entering this season.
But Phillips was not alone in expressing his interest in Freeze and the Rebels.
Three-star offensive tackle Martinas Rankin also narrowed his list to five teams Wednesday, according to a report by the Clarion-Ledger’s Riley Blevins. Among the teams he is considering, Rankin admitted Ole Miss has a “slight edge” at this point in his recruitment over the other teams on the list including Mississippi State, Oklahoma, Kentucky and Louisville.
The 6-foot-5, 300-pound tackle will play this season at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College.
