There’s been plenty of drama surrounding Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin lately with a report emerging recently that he was expected to become the next Auburn head coach, indicating that he was set to resign Friday after the Egg Bowl.

According to a report from ESPN’s Chris Low, Kiffin addressed his team on Tuesday to inform them that he had not accepted an offer from any school. College football analysts Rece Davis and Pete Thamel recently discussed Kiffin’s handling of the rumors.

“This says to me that whether he does or doesn’t, it’s percolating to the point that he had to tell the players something, which doesn’t necessarily bode well for the Egg Bowl, one wouldn’t think,” Davis said. “At least that’s the way I read it. And the other thing is all these so-called denials aren’t really denials.”

Whether or not Kiffin leaves Ole Miss after the end of the regular season remains to be seen, but there’s no question that the possibility implied has caused a stir both in Oxford and on social media.
