The Ole Miss Rebels have already lost their head coach this season, as Andy Kennedy resigned following a rough stretch for his squad.
Now, the Rebels are on the hunt for a new coach, and it appears they are setting their sights very high, meeting with a former Ohio State coach.
According to ESPN’s Jeff Goodman, the Rebels have interviewed Thad Matta about the opening:
Former Ohio State coach Thad Matta is interested in returning to coaching and met with Ole Miss officials on Friday in Oxford, multiple sources told ESPN.
Matta was fired by Ohio State this past offseason, but didn’t get back into coaching right away as he tried to get his health in order first.
Now, though, it appears he’s feeling good, and could head to the SEC next season.
