Huge news just dropped out of Oxford on Monday as Ole Miss has landed a commitment from one of the nation’s best quarterback prospects. Hoover, Ala., quarterback Robby Ashford has announced his decision to play for Matt Luke’s Rebels over offers from over Auburn, Florida, Texas A&M, Vanderbilt, Penn State and Oregon.

The 6-foot-2, 204-pound Hoover quarterback is ranked as the nation’s No. 7 dual-threat quarterback and a top 250 prospect nationally by 247Sports Composite Rankings. In addition to being a High School All-American, Ashford is set to compete in the upcoming 2019 Elite 11 Finals.

Following this news, Ole Miss now holds commitments from 19 prospects in the 2020 recruiting cycle with Ashford ranking as the second highest-rated prospect in the class, behind only four-star safety prospect Eric Reed.

“First, I want to thank God for blessing me with my gifts in football and baseball. I want to thank my parents, grandparents, and my sister for their constant love and support during this process. Finally, a huge thank you to my family, friends, church, mentors, private coaches, and especially my Hoover coaches for always investing your time and support in me. This process was far from easy and my decision was made based upon where I felt most at home, as well as, which university has my best interest in mind academically and athletically. With that being said, I am proud to announce that I will be playing college football and baseball at the University of Mississippi. #OleMiss #HottyToddy”
