Robert Nkemdiche is looking for another NFL opportunity after the San Francisco 49ers have released the former Ole Miss star, Adam Schefter of ESPN reported.

Nkemdiche was signed by the 49ers last month to a one-year deal.

Nkemdiche, who is listed at 6-foot-4 and 296 pounds was originally drafted by the Arizona Cardinals in the first round (29th overall) of the 2016 NFL Draft. Throughout his five-year career with the Cardinals (2016-18), Miami Dolphins (2019) and Seattle Seahawks (2021), he has appeared in 38 games (six starts) and registered 59 tackles, 4.5 sacks, three passes defensed, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery, the 49ers reported when he signed.

One of the star recruits of the Hugh Freeze era in Oxford, Nkemdiche was the No. 1 overall prospect in the 2013 recruiting cycle.

In the 2015 season, Nkemdiche started at defensive tackle in all 11 games in which he played, and finished third on team with 7 tackles for a loss, and tied for third on the team with 3 sacks.
