Lane Kiffin and his Ole Miss staff knew it would be a fight to hold on to Arkansas native Robert Scott, but in the end, it wasn’t the Razorbacks that managed to keep the lineman away from Oxford.

On Monday, Scott announced he had flipped his commitment from Ole Miss to Florida State. This news comes after Scott visited Arkansas over the weekend. Scott visited Tallahassee the previous weekend.

Losing the 6-foot-5, 310-pound Conway High School standout is a tough pill to swallow for the Rebels, who now only have three offensive linemen committed to the program’s 2020 recruiting class with only in-state signee Eli Acker ranking higher than Scott according to 247Sports Composite Rankings. Scott is ranked as the No. 5 prospect from Arkansas and the No. 38 offensive tackle in the nation.

One interesting aspect of Scott’s decision, which was made on Monday afternoon, Kiffin retweeted Scott’s original commitment tweet to Ole Miss back in June of 2019. Of course, that commitment to Ole Miss came when Matt Luke was running the Rebel program.

Still, it’s interesting that Kiffin retweeted this message just before Scott announced his flip to FSU. Whatever Kiffin’s motive was for that move, it didn’t pay off for Ole Miss.

Here’s a screenshot of Kiffin’s tweet, which currently tops his Twitter timeline as of this posting:
