Son of Ole Miss DC responsible for Dan Mullen's biggest upset at MSU
After Mississippi State’s stunning 21-20 loss to South Alabama on Saturday afternoon, many Ole Miss fans were undoubtedly delighted.
However, when looking at the South Alabama coaching staff, it appears the Rebels may have more of a connection to the Bulldogs’ loss than one might think:
Kane Wommack, son of Ole Miss DC Dave Wommack, is the DC of South Alabama.
Surely this is all a fun coincidence! https://t.co/qxBadKrSsz

Surely father Dave had some insight to offer his son before the Jaguars’ game in Starkville, having been the Rebels’ defensive coordinator since 2012.
How much help that Egg Bowl knowledge was to his son Kane is cause for debate, but the results speak for themselves.
Just how big was South Alabama’s upset? According to ESPN’s FPI ratings, there hasn’t been a bigger upset in the last five seasons:
South Alabama (@USAJaguarSports) had a 2.33% chance to beat Mississippi State = the biggest upset (by FPI) in the last five seasons

Mississippi State and Ole Miss square off in the annual Egg Bowl game on Saturday, Nov. 26, in Oxford. This time, Kane may have some words of wisdom to offer his dad.
Like father like son I guess.
State will improve. They looked like a team that is rebuilding with new coaches and new player talent. They may be a competitive team after about half way through this season. Mullin is too good of a coach for them not to improve. Those who don’t respect them may pay the price. LSU on the other hand, wow, they may not get better! That the best Les Miles and company can do with that talent/ They may be worse as the season progresses. Alabama may be awesome this year!
You can read plenty of SDS articles and find factual errors in more than half of them. This particular article may be the most poorly thought out, apparently biased story I’ve ever read on here. The headline says Ole Miss DC son, who’s the DC of So Alabama, is responsible for msu’s debacle on Sat. These facts” say “surely Dave Wommack

Whether this even happened is up for debate, tho it doesn’t matter anyway. Don’t deflect. Mullins and staff, with the direct involvement of his players, are solely responsible for the biggest upset in CFB in past 5 years.
