Son of Ole Miss DC responsible for Dan Mullen's biggest upset at MSU
After Mississippi State’s stunning 21-20 loss to South Alabama on Saturday afternoon, many Ole Miss fans were undoubtedly delighted.
However, when looking at the South Alabama coaching staff, it appears the Rebels may have more of a connection to the Bulldogs’ loss than one might think:
Kane Wommack, son of Ole Miss DC Dave Wommack, is the DC of South Alabama.
Surely this is all a fun coincidence! https://t.co/qxBadKrSsz

Surely father Dave had some insight to offer his son before the Jaguars’ game in Starkville, having been the Rebels’ defensive coordinator since 2012.
How much help that Egg Bowl knowledge was to his son Kane is cause for debate, but the results speak for themselves.
Just how big was South Alabama’s upset? According to ESPN’s FPI ratings, there hasn’t been a bigger upset in the last five seasons:
South Alabama (@USAJaguarSports) had a 2.33% chance to beat Mississippi State = the biggest upset (by FPI) in the last five seasons

Mississippi State and Ole Miss square off in the annual Egg Bowl game on Saturday, Nov. 26, in Oxford. This time, Kane may have some words of wisdom to offer his dad.
