Tamarion McDonald is staying in the SEC. McDonald announced Saturday that he is transferring to Ole Miss after 4 seasons at Tennessee.
McDonald manned the STAR position in the UT secondary. A 10-game starter in 2023, McDonald ranked 5th on the team with 40 total tackles and tied for 3rd in passes defended with 5 (4 pass breakups, 1 interception).
Last season, McDonald started all 13 games at STAR. He logged 56 tackles, which was 4th-best among Vol defenders. McDonald was 2nd on the team in pass breakups with 6 in his junior season.
A reserve in his first 2 seasons, McDonald joined UT in 2020. Out of Whitehaven in Memphis, McDonald was considered a 3-star outside linebacker prospect on the 247Sports Composite. Ole Miss was involved in McDonald’s recruitment out of high school before making a coaching change.
McDonald is the latest pledge in a parade of portal commitments for Lane Kiffin and his Ole Miss. After a 10-win season in 2023, Kiffin’s Rebels seem to be gunning for a spot in the 12-team Playoff next season as they stock up on talented players with experience.
