If it were up to D.D. Bowie, today would be National Signing Day and the recruiting process would finally be over.

But it’s not. The four-star wide receiver has another week left before he can formally sign papers and join his next football family, whether that be with Ole Miss (where he’s currently committed), Mississippi State, LSU, or Alabama.

Bowie told The Clarion-Ledger that he knows where he’s going, it’s just a matter of getting through these next few days.

“It’s been crazy. I got Ole Miss coming hard and Mississippi State coming hard at me,” Bowie told The Clarion-Ledger Wednesday. “I really just wish today was signing day, so I can go ahead and get it over with.

“I know (where I’m going), I know.”

Bowie, who gave his verbal to the Rebels on Oct. 24, 2015 after de-committing from Alabama 12 days before, has taken two visits to Mississippi State over the last two-and-a-half months, including an official last weekend.

The Bulldogs have made a very strong push to reel him away from their Egg Bowl rivals as of late, to say the least.

But Bowie (6-foot-1, 170 pounds), the No. 20 receiver in the 2017 class and No. 3 prospect from Mississippi, per 247Sports’ Composite, is set to take an official visit to Oxford this upcoming weekend and had great things to say about Ole Miss — where he says he’d play on the defensive side of the ball, instead of receiver.

“If I go to Ole Miss, I’m not playing receiver. I want to play (defensive back),” he continued. “I was just looking at their roster and they graduated like four cornerbacks and I played cornerback, so I think I can play that.”

Spending most of his time as a quarterback his senior season, Bowie rushed for 2,239 yards and 34 touchdowns, thew for 557 yards and three TDs and also had 12 catches for 137 yards and two scores. He also recorded 13 tackles, a sack and an interception.

The U.S. Army All-American would be a welcomed addition to either class; but 247Sports’ crystal ball gives a 50 percent lean to Ole Miss, with MSU getting a 33 percent shot at landing him next Wednesday.
