Twitter reacts to the latest NCAA investigation update with Ole Miss
Earlier today we relayed the news that the NCAA has expanded its investigation into the Ole Miss football program and possible violations that may have occurred under coach Hugh Freeze that goes far beyond the Laremy Tunsil case.
Per a report from Pat Forde of Yahoo! Sports, enforcement agents from the NCAA have begun interviewing players at Auburn and Mississippi State, and potentially one other SEC West school, that were recruited by Ole Miss while in high school. These players have allegedly been granted immunity for any wrongdoings during their recruitment process in exchange for accurate and truthful statements to the NCAA’s representatives.
We’ve put together a compilation of reactions from Twitterverse below. What are your thoughts on the investigation?
The NCAA is made up of people. And what do people do when they hear Ole Miss make false public statements about the case? They get mad.

The defiant way Bjork and Freeze have handled this at every turn has played well in Mississippi but undoubtedly made it worse in Indy.
— Dan Wolken (@DanWolken) August 25, 2016
The idea that Ole Miss is being picked on because they're upsetting some mythical order is just another in long line of pathetic excuses

College football hates usurpers, from fans all the way to the damned sport's governing body.

"So Ole Miss offered you piles of cash but you signed with Mississippi State out of a sense of duty and honor?"
— Bunkie Perkins (@BunkiePerkins) August 25, 2016
This is what we suspected was happening. Not good for Ole Miss in any way. https://t.co/nDDf7jZMcQ

@valleyshook Did Ole Miss usurp something?
/checks standingsNope. Still Bama. Dammit.

The NCAA wants to hammer Ole Miss and they're gonna go to any means possible. This tells me that they don't have enough to hammer them..
— Collin Brister (@CollinBrister) August 25, 2016
Now I'm sure they can find something, and it be bad, but as of this moment they don't have have enough to drop a proverbial hammer

This will be a tough one for #OleMiss… Bruce Pearl knows how this can turn out https://t.co/vxP2PMbDJ5

You know why the NCAA doesn’t like Ole Miss. it’s because to there Yankee a$$es in the north they think Ole Miss is Racist that’s it this schools nickname is racist and the play several songs that’s racist. In other words if Ole Miss did good lets say made it to the playoff that be a bad look for the sport cause there way to racist because they say Ole instead of Old. So the NCAA has to find some way to keep them out. And know I’m not delusional Freeze and his staff did do some stuff wrong but being a school who’s name is rebels in the only state that still has the Confederate flag on the state flag helps to. I’m not saying this because I’m a homer the whole damn State of Mississippi has been looked at like we are a bunch of racist inbreds. And I’m tired of it I know this turned to something besides football but you can’t deny that it effects a little of what’s going on. As far as I’m concerned keep that Flag flying. And Hotty Toddy and Look away Dixie land.
Oh Gawd, racism has nothing to do with it in this day and time. It has to do with wrong doing on side of the Mississippi coaching staff, and if found to be true you will have to pay the piper, so to speak. Simple…..
Do you watch the news? Racism is everywhere and anything.
Not sure if true. There are a lot of SEC/southern schools with ties to the Old South. Take LSU and Florida for example; LSU’s Tiger nickname was the regiment of the Louisiana Fighting Tiger Brigade during the Civil war and the term “Gator Bait” was used in the old south to threaten to throw the children of disobedient slaves to the alligators.
I think it just has more to do with a team like Ole Miss, who was a cellar dweller in the SEC most years, suddenly jumping up into the upper tier of the conference and other teams don’t like it.
Yes but LSU and gator bait isn’t as obvious to Yankees like Ole Miss is.
Nick, I don’t want to hear anything, I’m simply pointing out that it’s obvious that the NCAA started (or is continuing) this investigation based on Tunsil’s admission, not because the NCAA is a Yankee organization as was stated. And SEC, sorry to lump you in. I misread your comment, but I still think you’re reaching. Other teams being upset with Ole’ miss having success, as you stated, has nothing to do with the NCAA investigation.
You’re leaving out the part about Tunsil admitting on live television to a room full of reporters that he received cash from an ole’ miss coach, so there’s that. How can it be sooooo hard for some ole’ miss fans (not all) to accept that they’re in a tough spot because they’ve put themselves in that spot? It’s both ignorant and arrogant so think somebody is out to get you because as you and another poster decided “the Yankees think we’re racist”. Holy crap that’s shallow, you should both be embarrassed.
Ok yeh we are in a tough spot and the NCAA is gonna take scholarships and put us on probation is that what you want to hear?
Apparently you missed the part where I said I don’t think it’s that they’re out to get us because they perceive us as racist. It’s well documented that this would have already been resolved if not for the draft night debacle.
Your right I’m just tired of the damn media blowing out of proportion when they know it’s gonna come out before next year.
Tunsil never said that. Anyone who watches the video will come away realizing that Tunsil NEVER says he got paid to play. He was asked two questions together in a noisy reporter room to a distracted player. All he said was “I would say that.” That is different from “I was paid to play at Ole Miss.” You can over semantics, but a lot of people are connecting dots. Your interpretation of what he is saying isn’t the evidence.
You actually think this is because the NCAA hates Ole Miss? Laremy Tunsil admits to getting paid by the coaches and you think the NCAA is just going to look the other way? SMH. Ole Miss fans are delusional.
Ole Miss fans response to everyone that said the program was dirty was “Prove It”. Now that the NCAA has taken them up on their offer to Prove it, Ole Miss fans are pissed. SMH
Clausen you say “smh” a lot you need to get that looked at.
It’s because that it is very sad that an SEC team has to pay it’s players to play for them. Freeze has been the “Savior” at Ole Miss. You’ll be the one shaking your head when he leaves in disgrace.
My only problem with the “prove it” part is that if a player for another team says we did something, how is that going to be proven? Do they have texts, receipts or emails that can actually be considered proof, or does the NCAA just take them at their word?
If three players from 3 different schools had 3 very similar experiences, I would tend to believe that something happened. One person? You could dismiss it. Not 3 people.
While I’ve grown to dislike most of what you Ole Miss folks say, I agree with you on this. I can easily read a report about the Hindenburg crash and repeat what I’ve read as if it were my own. If they can however show some emails, text, tweets or whatever then I would be incline to believe the players.
ILGSGUY, I think you are saying that they could find 3 players at other schools who would read an article then repeat the content to have been parrallel to their experiences…. Have you followed many football players twitter pages lately? If so, are you really that confident they can easily find three who read?
CantHelpIt, I don’t tweet man. I barely have the patients for FB or this sight let alone another way for the Ole Miss fan base to annoy me.
That your best analogy Casey Clausen?
Or are you just mad cuz your TN quarterback days got you nowhere And now gonna talk crap to ole miss? Or is it bcuz you never won a game against Ole Miss when you were quarterback?
No relation to Casey but I do have a Rose Bowl ring and a Super Bowl Ring.
For the millionth time, CClausen is a UGA fan. The name is just a coincidence, and believe us, we have asked him to change it to avoid confusion. Second, Casey Clausen never played against OM, but judging off the series record (Tenn 44 wins OM 20 wins), pretty much every other UT QB has had an abundance of success against the Rebels.
Who asked me to change my name and why would I? My last name is Clausen and my father coached at Ohio State from ’71-’76 and then spent 10 years in the NFL with the Eagles, Falcons and Chargers. He had a much more successful football career than Casey.
I understand that you and your dad have a football background. But SEC fans will think of Casey Clausen when they see the screen name CClausen. Which is made apparent by the numerous times you have been confused for a Tennessee fan.
But that really cool about your dad. What position did he play?
cc, wasn’t he in the NFL for 15 years, 10 of them with the Eagles?
Please watch the video. He never admits to anything. At best, he says something that could be construed to be an admission. But he never says “I got paid to play at Ole Miss.”
I guess oxford has a different video than the rest of the world cause only om fans say he didnt admit to anything.
If a recruit committed to Ole Miss and flipped to another school his word is not any good anymore!
Dude, give Ole Miss a break. Seriously, sh’ts been played out already. Quit messing with the SEC!
-Vol fan for making NCAA stop hounding SEC teams
#GobotherMichigan
Hell yeh lets get #GobotherMichigan trending on Twitter
Hahahahahaha of course Wolken has something to say about it. Guy has such a hard on for anything negative on Ole Miss. Hammers us for anything yet makes excuses for the Bama players who were arrested with stolen guns and drugs. Notice how fast all the Bama headlines disappear. Meanwhile the Ole Miss cheats headline has been going on since 2013.
Y’all Ole Piss boys are blinding your own eyes if you don’t think that something wrong is going on inside your program, it’s to obvious. You’re delusional if you’re trying to lie to yourself to say that Tunsil didn’t say word for word that he got paid to play because of a noisy media room? Lol y’all are tits. Take it on the chin and be a men about it. It’s disgusting to see grown men be pussies.
I’m sure that they will take it on the tits… I think you are right… smoke, fire. However, to be fair, this is exactly how most of the fan-base would act if it was ANY school.
With this new development I wouldn’t be surprised if the punishment was handed out till late 2017 or even 2018. Which could greatly hinder recruiting for the next 2 or 3 years.
I wonder if this news has any correlation with Freeze staging his own funeral and eulogy for team motivation! Cause it looks like his goose is cooked and this might be his last year or so in Oxford.
That is not even a remote possibility…
It’s a shame Ole Miss did not even get to Atlanta, even with all its cheating.
