With Ole Miss quarterback Chad Kelly now out for the year with a knee injury, coach Hugh Freeze has a decision to make.

Kelly’s immediate backup, Jason Pellerin, was originally a three-star recruit out of high school and appears to be rather limited as a passer. While he’s gotten some playing time already, it’s primarily been as a runner.

Currently redshirting is Shea Patterson, who was a five-star stud at the prep level and the crown jewel of the Rebels’ most recent signing class. Even with only three games left in what has become a lost season, a convincing case can be made for burning his redshirt and seeing what he can do the rest of the way.

Be sure to watch the video above for some quick commentary on the situation at the game’s most important position in Oxford.
