With the three-day draft nearing an end, former Ole Miss standout quarterback Chad Kelly had given up hope. With only a handful of picks remaining in the NFL’s latest draft, Kelly admits he didn’t suspect he would be drafted until he got the call from the Broncos informing him that he would indeed be coming off the board with the final selection of the 2017 NFL Draft.

Soon after his selection, Kelly was interviewed by Tim Graham of Buffalo News. During the interview, Kelly talks about the difficulty of sitting through the draft without being selected, as well as members of his family giving up hope that he would be taken in the draft.

Thankfully for Kelly, he will indeed have his shot this offseason with the Broncos. Considering the team still does not have an established starter following the retirement of Peyton Manning, Kelly’s long wait may prove to be worth it. If he makes the roster, there’s a good chance he’ll eventually have a shot to prove he was well worth the risk in Denver.
