Pitt jumpstarts Week 9 with pick-6 and potential INT of the Year candidate vs. Syracuse

Pitt is in the middle of one of the best starts in the country, coming out of nowhere to start the year 6-0 and jump up to No. 19 on the AP Poll. Thursday night, the Panthers are facing Syracuse with a chance to get to 7-0, and it is all Pitt early on.
On Syracuse’s first drive of the game, the Panthers were able to come up with an early game-changing takeaway. Facing 2nd-and-10, Rasheem Biles played his man perfectly in man coverage on an out route, and QB Kyle McCord never saw Biles in coverage.
Once Biles jumped the route, it was a clear path down the sideline for the first points of the game via the pick-6. It goes down as the first interception of Biles’ Pitt career.

While that play was impressive by itself, Pitt followed it up with a 2nd interception on the very next drive. McCord, throwing a dangerous pass across the middle, had the ball batted into the air and bouncing around in coverage.
It eventually fell into the hands of Brandon George who was laying on his stomach on the field. It’s certainly uncommon to have an interception just fall in your lap, but that’s what happened for George on this play.

Across Syracuse’s first 2 drives, McCord is just 1-for-6 with 10 yards and already 2 interceptions. As a result, Pitt is off to a 10-0 start in search of continuing its undefeated season.
