Alabama RB Derrick Henry carried the football 339 times this season. That was more than any other player in college football.  He won the Heisman Trophy rushing for 1,986 yards, also most by any player this season. He led the nation with 23 touchdowns and 138 points scored.

He was certainly the workhorse for Alabama this season. The 6-foot-3, 242-pounder averaged 5.9 yards per carry, but he rumbled for 29-or-more yards on 10 carries this season. He also had five carries of 50-or-more yards as well.

Here are Henry’s 10 longest plays from scrimmage in 2015:

Dashing past the Dogs: Henry’s longest play from scrimmage this season was a 74-yard touchdown run late in the second quarter in the Tide’s 31-6 romp over Mississippi State on Nov. 14. Not only did Henry get stronger as each game wore on, but he also got stronger as the season wore on.

Doubling up on the Dogs: For an encore, Henry followed up his 74-yard touchdown run with a 65-yard dash for another score against Mississippi State. These were his two longest carries of the season. This one came with just under 8 minutes to play in the game and punctuated a 204-yard, 22-carry performance. It was Henry’s second consecutive game of 200-plus rushing yards which thrust him to the forefront of the Heisman Trophy.

Flashing early signs: In the season opener against Wisconsin, Henry displayed an ability got the attention of the college football world. Two of his longest runs of the season came against the Badgers, and both went for touchdowns in the Tide’s 35-17 victory. He ripped off a 56-yard touchdown run after electrifying the crowd with a 37-yard touchdown run earlier in the opener. Henry ran 13 times in the game for 147 yards and three touchdowns.

Texas two-step: In the biggest game at Kyle Field since joining the SEC, Henry silenced the packed house. On second-and-1 from the Alabama 45-yard line, Henry broke through the Aggies’ defense and galloped 55 yards for a touchdown. It was the first score of the game and with 5 minutes remaining in the first quarter, Alabama grabbed the lead and rolled to a 41-23 victory.

Tigers by the tail: In a game the Crimson Tide had to have, Henry ripped off his longest run of the season that didn’t go for a touchdown. But it almost did. Henry burst over right tackle and 40 yards later was finally tackled at the LSU 2-yard line. Henry punished the Tigers again with a 29-yard run in the fourth quarter. Behind 210 yards and three touchdowns on 38 carries from Henry, Alabama prevailed 30-16.

Big run on Rebels: Henry ran over left end for 31 yards against Ole Miss. It didn’t go for a touchdown but Henry did manage one touchdown on a 23-carry, 127-yard game against the Rebels. It wasn’t enough though, as Alabama suffered its only loss of the season, a 43-37 shootout in Tuscaloosa.

Henry for 30: Henry blasted up the middle for a 30-yard touchdown run as the Tide bounced back from the Ole Miss loss in their next SEC game with a 38-10 victory at Georgia. Henry tallied 148 yards on 26 carries to lead the way. At the time, it was Henry’s most productive rushing game at Alabama and a preview of things to come.

Getting Auburn’s attention: Henry got things started early for the Tide with a 30-yard run up the middle of Auburn’s defense in the annual Iron Bowl game. It was just the beginning. Henry ran for a career-high 271 yards on 46 carries. He scored one touchdown in the Tide’s 29-13 victory.

It was a season to remember for sure, but Henry will do what he can to make sure it doesn’t end on New Year’s Eve when Alabama takes on Michigan State in the College Football Playoff semifinals at the Goodyear Cotton Bowl.

He wants one more big game after that, for a national championship.
