Big Ten team gets robbed of win after worst penalty call of the season

The Purdue Boilermakers should be celebrating a win Saturday morning. Instead, they’re reeling from a loss to Minnesota aided by the worst pass interference of the year.

Trailing by 3 points Friday night, Purdue drove the length of the field behind quarterback Jack Plummer. The signal caller threw a perfect touchdown to tight end Payne Durham; however, the official inexplicably called offensive pass interference, and the potential game-winning touchdown was wiped off the scoreboard.

Watch this and imagine trying to explain the call:

Minnesota beat Purdue 34-31 to win the Big Ten matchup. Purdue dropped to 2-2, while Minnesota improved to 2-3.

This call, however, will go down as one of the biggest phantom calls of the 2020 season, and it absolutely cost the Boilermakers the game.
