Super Bowl LIII is over and done, and though it was the lowest-scoring Super Bowl ever, there was some excitement, at least.
At the end of the day, the New England Patriots won their sixth Super Bowl under QB Tom Brady and coach Bill Belichick.
The SEC was well-represented on the Patriots’ roster, with 14 players winning Super Bowl rings on Sunday. Those players come from nine different SEC schools, as you can see here:
- David Andrews, OL, Georgia
- Trent Brown, OL, Florida
- Adam Butler, DT, Vanderbilt
- Duke Dawson, DB, Florida
- Trey Flowers, DE, Arkansas
- Stephon Gilmore, DB, South Carolina
- Dont’a Hightower, LB, Alabama
- Jeremy Hill, RB, LSU
- Jonathan Jones, DB, Auburn
- Brandon King, LB, Auburn
- Sony Michel, RB, Georgia
- Cordarrelle Patterson, WR, Tennessee
- Deatrich Wise, DE, Arkansas
- Isaiah Wynn, OL, Georgia
Michel, Patterson, Hightower, Flowers and Gilmore all made big contributions to the win, but all of them have helped the Patriots make it to this point.
What a year for those SEC athletes, and with the way the Patriots have been playing lately, they may be back in the Super Bowl next year.
