247Sports' list of 10 most-hated CFB teams of all time includes 3 SEC squads
When you’re a dominant program in college football, there are going to be a lot of fans who hate you.
In a lot of ways, that’s the price of success, but the hate just means you have probably won a championship or two to make people so upset.
On Sunday, Brad Crawford of 247Sports named the 10 most-hated teams in college football history, and that list includes three SEC teams:
- No. 4 — Auburn Tigers (2010)
- No. 5 — Florida Gators (1996)
- No. 9 — Alabama Crimson Tide (2012)
Those are some interesting choices, as all those teams made waves in their respective years, but neither takes the No. 1 spot.
See which team landed the No. 1 spot, along with the rest of the top 10, here.
Not one of those teams cares.
Personally just because a teams playing style is boring doesnt mean they should be hated for it, so I think Bama in 2012 wasnt all that bad. I agreed with Miami at the top. They still get a bad name even now.
I think Bama 2012 was one of the best teams Saban has had.
I agree.
I think the reason is because there was a lot of anger with putting that Bama team in the championship game. They got a mulligan and didn’t even win their division.
Man I could have swore I watched Bama beat UGA for the SEC championship in 2012 before going on to pound ND
In terms of all-time, not just one season, the first teams that come to mind for me are Ohio State, Notre Dame, Miami, Florida State, Florida, Auburn, Texas, Michigan, and Alabama, in no particular order.
That 2012 team was a delight to watch…
Florida State and Miami. No other teams even come close.
can’t disagree
Apart from Cam, I don’t see how these could be controversial enough to be hated. Isn’t Wuerffel a season part-time revival tent preacher?
“a season part-time revival tent preacher” sounds like a slight but I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt. Wuerffel is no preacher however he is a Christian and executive director of Desire Street Ministries, which helps under-resourced areas across the Southeast. Did a lot of good work in post Katrina New Orleans among many other good deeds. No reason to take a shot at a good man.
I’m surprised Georgia isn’t on the list.
Which year and why?
lol…that’s a good one
Well even though it says “all time” the list goes as far as 1986 only.
1980 is just too distant, like ancient history
I understand that prior to 1980, or really even 1990, Gators have no reason to remember football or even acknowledge they had a football program, but yes 1980 in an increasingly long time ago.
No Georgia team in recent history has been soul-crushingly dominant and/or dripping with bravado or swagger, so it makes sense no Georgia team made the top 10. As for the fanbase? Well, I think we all know the answer to that question…
