3 SEC teams featured in NCAA's current Top 16 seeds
For the first time this season, the NCAA the 16 teams that would occupy the top spots entering March Madness if the 2020-21 season ended today.
The Top 16 overall seeds were revealed Saturday on CBS. Alabama, Tennessee and Mizzou were the three SEC teams to make the cut.
Alabama is the highest-ranked of the bunch. The NCAA has the Crimson Tide at No. 7 overall and a two-seed in Region 1. Nate Oats’ squad is slotted in the same region as Gonzaga, Oklahoma and Iowa.
Tennessee is a three-seed in Region 2 as the No. 11 overall seed. The Vols are accompanied by Baylor, Illinois and Texas.
Mizzou is No. 16 overall, a four-seed in Region 4. Michigan, Houston and West Virginia occupy the top spots of that region.
All three teams are in action Saturday. Tennessee at LSU is set for a 2 p.m. ET tip, airing on ESPN. Alabama hosts Georgia, a game set for 3:30 p.m. ET on the SEC Network. Mizzou hosts Arkansas at 4 p.m. ET, a contest airing on ESPN2.
