Kentucky’s first loss of the 2019-20 season will be one of the most surprising upsets of the men’s college basketball season.

Last Tuesday, the Wildcats lost at home to Evansville, 67-64, in what was expected to be a mismatch in favor of Kentucky, which was ranked No. 1 in the nation at the time. However, the Wildcats will have plenty of time to prove that was a fluke and that they’re still one of the top teams in the country.

For now, Kentucky fell eight spots to No. 9 in this week’s AP Top 25 poll, which was released on Monday. The Wildcats are still the top SEC team in the rankings. Duke took over the top spot in the poll.

Auburn and Tennessee are the other two SEC teams in the poll this week. The Tigers moved up three spots to No. 19, while the Vols held their position at No. 20.

Auburn has opened the season with four consecutive wins, beating Georgia Southern, Davidson, South Alabama and CSU Northridge. This week, the Tigers have only one game — a home matchup against Colgate on Monday.

Tennessee is 3-0, and it already owns a win over a ranked team, as it beat Washington this past Saturday. The Vols’ lone game of this week is on Wednesday — a home matchup against Alabama State.
