36 former SEC baseball players featured on MLB playoff teams
The MLB postseason begins Tuesday night as the Milwaukee Brewers take on the Washington Nationals in this year’s National League Wild Card Game. And that’s only the beginning of the most exciting month of baseball season.
For SEC fans, they might recognize some familiar faces throughout the MLB playoffs, as there are 36 former conference baseball players on the 40-man rosters of the 10 teams in the postseason. While not all of them may make their team’s playoff roster, many of them will.
In fact, both starting pitchers for Tuesday night’s NL Wild Card Game are alums of SEC schools. Brewers starter Brandon Woodruff went to Mississippi State, while Nationals starter Max Scherzer attended Missouri.
The Braves lead the 10 MLB postseason teams with seven former SEC players on their 40-man roster.
