The Minnesota Vikings took a handful of SEC players in the 2020 NFL Draft — LSU WR Justin Jefferson (Round 1), Mississippi State CB Cameron Dantzler (Round 3), South Carolina DL DJ Wonnum (Round 4) and Mississippi State S Brian Cole II (Round 7).

Now, unfortunately, a pair of them have been placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list amid the ongoing global pandemic.

Per a release from the team, Jefferson and Cole are the former SEC stars on the list. As Schefter notes, it doesn’t mean they’ve contracted the virus. It could also mean they have simply been exposed to it and are being quarantined out of an abundance of caution:

Obviously, this isn’t the sort of news any team wants ahead of the season, but the important thing will be to make sure those players are healthy before returning to the team.

How will this affect the rookies moving forward? That remains to be seen as training camps get underway this week.
