The newest College Football Playoff rankings have four SEC squads in the top 10 — Alabama at No. 1, Georgia at No. 4, Florida at No. 9 and LSU at No. 10.
That means the New Year’s 6 bowl games could be full of elite SEC teams, with the SEC champ almost certainly going to the College Football Playoff to play in either the Orange Bowl or the Cotton Bowl.
From there, the loser of the SEC title game will either be in the Playoff or a NY6 bowl, and since LSU and Florida are ranked so high, they’re looking good for elite games too. As you can see below, those four teams are currently projected into the NY6 games:
NY6 based on today's rankings:
Orange: Alabama-Oklahoma
Cotton: Clemson-Notre Dame
Rose: Washington-Ohio State
Sugar: Georgia-Texas
Fiesta: UCF-LSU
Peach: Michigan-Florida— Bryan Fischer (@BryanDFischer) November 28, 2018
UCF-LSU would be a fun Fiesta Bowl, but Florida-UCF would be arguably an even more intriguing option.
Whatever the case, there will be plenty of SEC representation in the nation’s best bowls this year.
