SEC road warriors: Best road records in the past decade

Winning on the road is not easy. Winning on the road in the SEC is even more difficult.

But for five SEC teams, road woes have been few over the past decade. Whether traveling to another conference team’s backyard or elsewhere, four have won at least 60 percent of the time and a fifth came close.

In a class by itself, Alabama is far and away the class of the SEC road warriors over that span, going 32-10.

Alabama’s recent surge under head coach Nick Saban has given the Tide the edge over a Georgia team that holds the lead if you go all the way back to 2000.

Florida has tapered off considerably since 2011, winning just 10 of 21 road games over the past five years.

Still, Georgia, Florida, LSU and Missouri all won much more often than not on the road over the past decade and can be considered, with Alabama, the elite road warriors in the conference.

The question arises: Can we include Missouri in the discussion? The Tigers played in the Big 12 for most of that time. But for inclusivity purposes, we’ll allow them.

Besides, since joining the SEC for the 2012 season, the Tigers have increased their win percentage. In four years of SEC play, Missouri is 13-7 on the road for a win percentage of .650.

Here are the top five SEC road teams from 2006-15 and their winning percentage:

Team Record Win Pct.
1. Alabama 32-10 .762
2. Georgia 30-14 .682
3. Florida 27-14 .659
4. LSU 27-17 .614
5. Missouri 27-19 .587
