Alabama vs. Clemson is a matchup college football fans were craving.

The Tigers have a high-powered offense led by Deshaun Watson to battle the No. 1 defense in the nation.

It has the potential to be memorable.

Here are the 5 biggest story lines heading into the national title game:

The Clemson offense vs. the Alabama defense: In the biggest matchup, Clemson boasts the No. 11 offense in the country while Alabama ranks No. 1 in total defense. The Tide has been vulnerable to mobile quarterbacks under Saban, so it will be interesting to see what game plan Kirby Smart dials up.

Which Jake Coker will we get? Jake Coker was great against Michigan State, finishing 25-for-30 with two touchdowns and no interceptions. But will that carry over on college football’s biggest stage? Clemson’s pass rush is scary, especially if Shaq Lawson is healthy. Coker will be challenged, but he showed he is capable of carrying the Tide offense.

What will Derrick Henry do? Michigan State pulled out the full-court press on Derrick Henry. But the tactic didn’t stop the Tide offense. Yes, Henry was held in check, but it opened up opportunities for the other Alabama playmakers. Clemson’s defense is more athletic and versatile than Michigan State’s. It will prepare for Henry, but also have a plan for playmakers Calvin Ridley and Cyrus Jones. Henry should have more room to run.

How about Wayne Gallman? Wayne Gallman may be the most-underrated player for Clemson. Alabama is great against the run, but if the Tide places heavy emphasis on stopping Watson, Gallman may find some running lanes. He had 150 yards and two TDs against Oklahoma. Though it will be hard to duplicate that performance, he should play a pivotal role.

How will Kirby Smart go out? Regardless of the outcome, this is Kirby Smart’s last game as the Alabama defensive coordinator. He has the chance to shut down one of the best offenses in the country. But on the other hand, Clemson could gash the Tide defense, pushing Smart out on a negative note. It should be a fun chess match to watch.
