One fan base will be re-energized. The other will be dejected — even more than it currently is.

In July’s SEC Media Days, the near-consensus was Arkansas at Tennessee would be one of the highlights of the season. The up-and-comer from the West at the up-and-comer from the East. A month into the season the game is still must-watch, but for wildly different reasons.

Neither the Razorbacks or Volunteers have been able to close out games this season. Someone will have to Saturday, though, as there aren’t ties in college football anymore (thank heavens).

Here are five to watch when each team tries to break its bad streak.

Arkansas RB Alex Collins: After a relatively slow start to the season, Collins has come on in the team’s last two games. He’s on pace to out-perform his 1,100-yard season of 2014 as he’s earned feature-back carries with stablemate Jonathan Williams out for the season.

Tennessee QB Joshua Dobbs: If Tennessee is going to take advantage of Arkansas’ defense, it will most likely come with Dobbs’ legs. His running ability is his strongest asset and run defense has been a glaring weakness of the Arkansas defense. Trick is, Dobbs hasn’t looked good passing and the Razorbacks are the weakest team in the SEC in defending the air.

Tennessee DB Cameron Sutton: The next-weakest team in the league in defending the pass is Tennessee. Sutton is the best player in the Volunteers’ secondary and will be counted on to help slow down an Arkansas passing game that’s both top 20 in yards and efficiency.

Arkansas LB Brooks Ellis: Ellis has moved from the middle to the weakside and back to the middle in the course of a few months. The junior is the only truly experienced linebacker on the roster and remains the key to the Arkansas defense turning things around. The Razorbacks finished the last six games last season with the No. 1 scoring defense in FBS. They’re 11th in the SEC so far this year.

Arkansas QB Brandon Allen: Allen is the most important player on the field Saturday. If he plays well for four quarters, Arkansas will win. But Allen has never registered a fourth-quarter comeback. Arkansas has never won a game decided by 10 points or less under coach Bret Bielema. If Allen leads a charge and Arkansas jumps out, they won’t give it up. If a comeback is required, well, Tennessee will likely come off the schneid.
