7 SEC players named first-team AFCA All-Americans
The American Football Coaches Association released its All-America teams for the 2022 season on Wednesday.
The SEC was heavily represented on both the first and second teams.
Making the first team were Tennessee wide receiver Jalin Hyatt, Georgia tight end Brock Bowers, Florida offensive lineman O’Cyrus Torrence, Georgia defensive lineman Jalen Carter, Alabama linebacker Will Anderson, Georgia defensive back Chris Smith, and Mississippi State defensive back Emmanuel Forbes, who returned 3 interceptions for touchdowns this season.
Representing the SEC on the second team were Alabama defensive lineman Byron Young, Arkansas linebacker Drew Sanders, Georgia linebacker Jamon Dumas-Johnson, Alabama defensive backs Jordan Battle and Kool-Aid McKinstry, and South Carolina punter Kai Kroeger.
Each player selected to the first team will receive a plaque commemorating their selection, while members of the second team receive certificates.
