One annual debate that always comes up in college football circles during the sport’s long offseason comes when fans get together and argue over which programs are the best of all time.

In an attempt to take away the subjectivity of the debate, ESPN tasked its Stats & Information Group to once and for all determine the 50 best programs in college football history — across all division of play. Turns out, some of the results their formula handed out were very interesting.

For example, based on their criteria — which is explained below — Yale finished No. 7, North Dakota State came in at No. 10, Princeton No. 11 and Harvard No. 13.

Here was the model for ESPN’s Stats & Information GroupDominance, 20% (number of national championships), Peak strength, 20% (winning percentage for best 50 seasons in program history), Since integration, 30% (winning percentage over the past 50 seasons), Early modern, 20% (winning percentage over the middle 50 seasons), Pre-modern, 10% (winning percentage over the first 50 seasons).

Based on their formula, here are the eight SEC programs that made the list, along with their ranking:

#1 Alabama, rating: 74.9

#14 Tennessee, rating: 59.2

#15 LSU, rating 59.0

#20 Auburn, rating 56.82

#21 Florida, rating 56.81

#22 Georgia, rating 56.6

#32 Texas A&M, rating 54.2

#44 Arkansas, rating 51.71
