After playing for both programs, Luke Del Rio shares biggest difference between Alabama and Florida
If you want to accurately compare the football programs in Tuscaloosa and Gainesville, there may not be a better player to ask than Luke Del Rio.
The former Florida and Alabama quarterback suited up for both programs (as well as Oregon State) during his collegiate career. While his playing career was unfortunately hindered by injuries, he still has a good understanding of the inner working at both SEC programs after playing for them both.
So what, in Del Rio’s mind, is the biggest difference between Alabama and Florida? The strength and conditioning program:
Strength and Conditioning program was the biggest difference between my time at Alabama and Florida @CoachYeah is the best I have ever been around, and it’s not close. https://t.co/nD4CCpytxE

Del Rio added more context in a followup tweet:
His program is better designed to add strength and mass early and often and as players are there longer he backs off trying to bulk them up (because they are already huge by the time they’ve been there a few years) and focuses on mobility/injury-prevention.

While Nick Saban deserves all the praise thrown at him for the glory he has returned to the Alabama program, those that know the program well heap plenty of accolades at Scott Cochran, too. Here’s just the latest example of why both men deserve credit for building Alabama into the premier football program in the nation.
