It’s time to take a look at the top players in the SEC during Week 10 action throughout the conference.
OFFENSE
QB Brandon Allen – Brandon Allen outdueled Chad Kelly (386 yards, 3 passing TDs, 3 rushing TDs), throwing for a career-high 442 yards and six touchdowns. The six TD passes set an Arkansas single-game record and tied him for second-most in a game in SEC history. His 33 completions were also school record, and the 442 yards were second-most in school history. Allen punched in the winning score on a 2-point conversion for the Razorbacks’ second overtime win in the past three weeks. The three touchdowns he’s tossed in overtime this season are the most in FBS.
RB Derrick Henry – Derrick Henry won the battle of the star running backs, besting LSU counterpart Leonard Fournette by a whopping 179 yards. Henry finished off LSU with 210 rushing yards and three touchdowns while Fournette had just 31 yards. The junior’s 14th-straight 100-yard effort is the longest active streak in the nation and best in Crimson Tide history. His 31 career touchdowns trail only Bobby Humphrey’s 33 scores for sixth all-time among Tide running backs.
RB Jovon Robinson – Jovon Robinson finally had the breakout game that Auburn was expecting from last season’s No. 1 ranked junior college player. The junior posted 159 yards and scored on a 1-yard touchdown run to get the Tigers on the board against Texas A&M in Week 10.
WR Drew Morgan – Drew Morgan has a knack for snagging clutch touchdown passes, hauling in the game-winner in Arkansas’ Week 10 overtime thriller against Ole Miss. Morgan had three scores and 122 yards as the Razorbacks won for their third-straight game.
WR De’Runnya Wilson – Dak Prescott and De’Runnya Wilson are now tied with Tyler Russell and Chad Bumphis as the most-prolific QB/WR duos in Mississippi State history, thanks to a two-touchdown performance in Week 10 against Missouri. Wilson caught four passes for 102 yards and caught a touchdown in his fourth consecutive contest, the first Bulldog since Bumphis to do so.
Alabama OL – The SEC named Alabama center Ryan Kelly as its offensive lineman of the week as the Crimson Tide front line of attack paved the way for 434-yards of total offense. Kelly led the team by grading out at 92 percent while not allowing a sack or QB pressure.
DEFENSE
DL Alex McAlister – Alex McAlister helped lead a Florida defensive attack that stymied Vanderbilt all afternoon in Week 10. The junior finished with 4 tackles, including 3.0 for loss, and 2.5 sacks. It was the Gators’ fifth game of the season with at least 10 tackles-for-loss, the first time the program has accomplished the feat since 1997.
DL Marquis Haynes – Ole Miss’ Marquis Haynes continues to terrorize offenses, this time getting after Arkansas for 5 tackles and a sack, to go along with a forced fumble and a quarterback hurry in the Rebels’ loss to the Razorbacks. Haynes is runner-up in the SEC with 9 sacks this season, two behind Texas A&M’s Myles Garrett.
LB Dillon Lee – Dillon Lee might not be one of the more celebrated names along Alabama’s stellar defense, but the senior made his presence felt against LSU. Lee made three tackles, including a sack, and picked off a Brandon Harris pass early in the third quarter, which led to a Crimson Tide touchdown and resounding win.
LB Zach Cunningham – Vanderbilt’s Zach Cunningham might have had the best statistical day among all SEC defenders. The linebacker took down 10 Florida ballcarriers, including a pair of them for a loss. He also recovered two Gators fumbles and took down Johnny McCrary once for a sack in the 9-7 nail-biter in Gainesville.
SS Dominick Sanders – Dominick Sanders had the first multiple interception game for Georgia since the sophomore’s two-pick effort in last year’s Belk Bowl.
FS Armani Watts – Texas A&M free safety Armani Watts led the SEC in tackles in Week 10 with 13 against Auburn. The sophomore is tied with Skai Moore of South Carolina for third in the conference in total tackles with 88 — trailing Auburn’s Johnathan Ford (96) and Kentrell Brothers of Missouri (117).
