Pandemonium in the top 10 caused quite a stir not only in the SEC, but college football nationwide this weekend after five of the top 8 teams fell for the first time in poll history. Teams from Mississippi looked incredible while the state of Texas has two Playoff contenders in addition to the Aggies.

We’ve included the actual rankings for comparison.

Here’s how the AP TOP 25 should’ve looked based on Week 6 performances only

1. Mississippi State — No team in the nation had a more impressive win than the Bulldogs, who led previously unbeaten and sixth-ranked Texas A&M 48-17 early in the fourth quarter. Dak Prescott dominated and Mississippi State’s pass rush rattled Kenny Hill.

2. Ole Miss — The Rebels flourished under pressure, especially Bo Wallace and the Ole Miss defense. Hugh Freeze’s team shook off a late defensive touchdown in the second quarter to upset Alabama with precise execution down the stretch.

3. Arizona — Get used to the name Anu Solomon. The freshman quarterback’s on his way to incredible numbers this season under Rich Rodriguez and made solid decisions during the program’s second consecutive win over Oregon last Thursday night.

4. Auburn — The Tigers are back (actually, they never left). Auburn finally looked the part against LSU Saturday night, running wild against an inexperienced team in danger of falling to a forbidden 7-5 scenario.

5. Utah — The Pac-12 pecking order isn’t what we expected in the preseason after the Utes’ upset of UCLA on the road.

6. TCU — Are the Horned Frogs playing the best football team in the state of Texas this season? You could make an argument. This week’s game against Baylor separates the pair.

7. Notre Dame

8. Alabama — Is there reason to worry about the Crimson Tide’s third straight loss to a ranked opponent?

9. Michigan State

10. Baylor — Bryce Petty and the uptempo offense didn’t click at Texas, but the Bears survived on a weekend where others went down.

11. Oklahoma

12. Georgia — Another Heisman outing from Todd Gurley was buried this weekend thanks to Vanderbilt.

13. Kentucky — A triple-overtime loss from being unbeaten and ranked in the Top 15, the Wildcats posted their biggest win of the Mark Stoops era with a thrilling comeback against South Carolina.

14. Arizona State — The Sun Devils pulled the rug beneath Southern Cal with a walk-off Hail Mary at the Coliseum. Jaelen Strong’s 46-yard touchdown reception from Mike Bercovici as time expired capped a 13-point run in the final 2:43 to shock the Trojans.

15. Oregon — Marcus Mariota’s offensive line failed during the Ducks’ first loss of the season, a heartbreaker at home to Arizona.

16. Ohio State

17.  Kansas State

18. Oklahoma State

19. Texas A&M — Mississippi State made the Aggies look average in Starkville, but they’re still very much alive in a loaded SEC West. This week’s game against Ole Miss will be telling for Kevin Sumlin’s group.

20. Clemson — Since starting the season 1-2, the Tigers have looked like a different team with true freshman Deshaun Watson at quarterback. He’s thrown for 702 yards and eight touchdowns in two starts.

21. Georgia Tech — One of 10 remaining FBS unbeatens, the Yellow Jackets battle two remaining ranked teams this season — Clemson and Georgia.

22. East Carolina

23. Missouri

24. Nebraska

25. UCLA — Kicker Ka’imi Fairbairn had two chances (thanks to Pac-12 officials) to avoid the upset against Utah and missed twice in the final seconds.
