Miami (FL) is back to ruffling feathers.

The Hurricanes ruffled Arkansas State’s feathers for not paying the program $650,000 after Hurricane Irma canceled their matchup on Sept. 9, 2017.

Now, Arkansas State is taking action. After failing to make the payment before the Feb. 15 deadline, Arkansas State is suing Miami for liquidated damages.

Arkansas State counsel Brad Phelps released a statement on the matter.

“It is unfortunate that we have reached this point, but Miami’s actions left us with no choice. We look forward to proceeding to trial.”

The suit states that Miami is guilty of breaching the contract for “failing to appear for the September 9, 2017 football game,  failing to reschedule the game when its schedule permitted and and failing to pay ASU liquidated damages.”

The issue was not that the game was canceled because of the hurricane. According to the suit, ASU offered to host Miami or schedule another future matchup. ASU even claimed that it even attempted to move the game up a day to Friday, Feb. 8.

The subject of scheduling a future matchup didn’t gain any traction because Miami claimed it didn’t have any available spots until 2024.

Miami has yet to release an official statement on the matter.
