Army football revealed its uniforms for the rivalry game against Navy on Dec. 9, and they make a strong case for some of the best uniforms of the season.

Army will honor the legacy of the Dogface Soldiers with its uniforms, which feature an all-tan look, that are inspired by the 3rd Infantry Division. A video posted by Army on social media explained the history of the 3rd Infantry Division.

“The 3rd Infantry Division is one of the oldest and decorated divisions in the United States Army,” the video said. “Their tactical competence during the invasion of Iraq in 2003 added to their legacy. The soldiers in the 3rd Infantry Division are known as Dogface Soldiers. Their determination in the face of adversity lived up to that moniquer. They led the longest and most rapid armored advance since World War II, through the Iraqi capital city Baghdad with 2 surprised attacks that are better known today as Thunder Run.”

Navy will also be rocking some special uniforms for the game, honoring the U.S. Submarine Force with its “silent service” uniforms.

The game is setting up to be a good one as it always is. Army sits at 5-6 on the season while Navy has a 5-5 record.

Last year’s game was a thriller, with Army taking the game in double overtime. The series is very even all time, with Navy leading 64-62-7.
