Looking back at 1985 in the SEC, here are the major storylines from that season:
- Auburn RB Bo Jackson won the Heisman with 1,786 yards rushing and 17 touchdowns
- Future Alabama head coach Mike Shula was the league’s Quarterback of the Year for the Crimson Tide
- Coached by legendary Johnny Majors, Tennessee won the SEC and finished 8-1-2 overall. The Vols were one of six SEC teams in the final AP Top 25.
- On Oct. 19, 20th-ranked Tennessee beat No. 15 Alabama in Birmingham, a win that later propelled the ‘Sugar Vols’ to a conference championship.
