The sophomore really took an opportunity to lower his shoulder on this one.

In a Saturday night game that was streamed online, Arch Manning took an opportunity to scramble out of the pocket and deliver a big hit on a defender who came up to make a tackle. Manning, playing for Newman High School against Country Day excelled early and often. Manning had two touchdown runs and a touchdown pass by late in the fourth quarter as his team held a 27-7 lead.

Manning is in the Class of 2023 and the son of Cooper Manning, which makes him Peyton and Eli’s nephew. The sophomore is listed at 6-foot-3 and 190 pounds. As a freshman starter on varsity at Isidore Newman (New Orleans), Arch threw for over 2,400 yards and 34 touchdowns.

He is the No. 1-ranked pro-style QB in his class.

Most believe that Georgia, LSU, Tennessee, Ole Miss and Duke are all in the mix. Local Louisiana reporter Mike Detillier was asked where he thinks Arch will end up, and neither were SEC programs. The 2 schools to watch, according to Detillier? Clemson and Oklahoma.

“When I look at it, who are the two schools that you can name that have pumped out these quarterbacks? Oklahoma – Lincoln Riley, quarterback whisperer. Clemson. Just look at what Clemson has had and it kind of dominoes with Deshaun Watson, Trevor Lawrence and the next cat they’re gonna have after Trevor is pretty doggone good too…I would keep my eye on Oklahoma and Clemson.”
