Saturday was Halloween, but it was also a college football game day. Could the two coexist?

Of course they did, especially on social media. From costumes to candy, Halloween was ever-present around college football.

Here’s the best from around social media for Week 9:

YOU KNOW YOU’RE DEDICATED TO THE COSTUME WHEN YOU BRING A CLIPBOARD

Dressing up as college football coaches for Halloween isn’t something new. Any kid with a visor and a polo shirt bearing the logo of his or her favorite team can usually pull it off.

But props to this young man for  going all-out on his Gus Malzahn impersonation. From the sweater vest to the thin-rimmed glasses, he gets the outfit just right. He even brought headphones and a clipboard! On top of the outfit, he even has the confused look of someone who doesn’t know how their season turned out so poorly.

HOLLYWOOD-WORTHY COSTUME COORDINATION

Anyone who has ever watched “Remember the Titans” knows it’s one of the best sports movies of all time. From a strong script based off a true story to lead actor Denzel Washington’s performance, it’s just a great flick all around.

But an undervalued facet of the film is the ensemble of players that make up the high school team. Characters like “Sunshine” Bass, Louie Lastik and “Rev” Harris provide the humorous backbone of the movie. And these BYU players nailed their costumes of the Titans players.

CORSO CAN’T HANDLE THE PHILLIE PHANATIC

ESPN’s College GameDay was in Philadelphia on Saturday for the Notre Dame-Temple game. That meant the most famous mascot in the City of Brotherly Love (and perhaps all of sports) made a visit to the set.

Needless to say, things became a bit strange. Maybe the Phillie Phanatic was just excited that he wasn’t the only one wearing a costume today.

UNTOUCHABLE

Joke all you want about how the Big 12 can’t tackle, but Texas Tech receiver Jakeem Grant was truly elusive on this quick throw from the shadow of the Raiders’ end zone. It’s a shame Grant didn’t get the touchdown because he truly did everything he could to make something out of nothing.

WHEN A MILKY WAY IS WORTH AS MUCH AS NEBRASKA SEASON TICKETS

Things aren’t going too well in Lincoln.

Cornhuskers fans became nostalgic for the days of nine-win seasons under Bo Pelini not long after Mike Riley took over this season. Nebraska fell to 3-6 after falling to Big Ten cellar-dweller Purdue on Saturday, and fans aren’t happy. Some even went as far as giving away their remaining tickets to trick-or-treaters.
