BetOnline.ag releases betting lines for Week 1 SEC matchups
The 2020 college football season is set to start next month for the ACC, Big 12 and SEC.
On Wednesday, the folks at BetOnline.ag released their Week 1 opening lines for the 7 SEC games.
As you can see below, there are 3 games with point spreads of more than 20 points, with Tennessee at South Carolina expected to be the closest game of the week:
- Alabama (-21) at Mizzou
- Florida (-10.5) at Ole Miss
- Georgia (-24) at Arkansas
- Kentucky at Auburn (-7.5)
- Mississippi State at LSU (-17.5)
- Tennessee (-3) at South Carolina
- Vanderbilt at Texas A&M (-28.5)
Interestingly, 4 road teams are favored to win in Week 1. Texas A&M is the biggest favorite, taking on Vanderbilt.

I’m surprised the spread is essentially two scores for Florida at Ole Miss
Ole Miss should be an interesting match up considering their new head coach. Since now both schools are ran by offense minded head coaches, and both have dynamic qb’s in their own perspectives, it should be a show oh at least decent fireworks. Not surprised to see the spread so low tbh.
Florida’s defense should be better than that, no?
The only way the Florida-Ole Miss line makes sense is if they’re factoring in the wide receivers sitting out. I don’t think they will.
This spread only makes sense to me if you are talking history. Florida hasn’t won an SEC opener by more than 8 points since Kentucky in 2016. Ole Miss returns almost all of their offense. If Ole Miss gets any kind of defensive help this game could be a shootout and I could see a Florida win by 10 point or less.
As the first game, it could be another fiasco of mistakes like last year’s Florida-Miami opener. So upon further reflection, you may be right.

I knew it.
Cocky and the hoop skirt with everyone who loves the ‘Cocks in the cabooses tail-gating pregame with masks on and not because we are ashamed this time.
Some of us still like coach Boom.
Go ‘Cocks! Ram it down their throats!
Ooof! Spotting 28.5 points against an SEC opponent? Well, OK. I’m good with that.
I like Vandy and Ole Miss to cover. 28.5 pts is too much, even if it’s against Vandy & Plumlee is going to score some points for Ole Miss, kid is a stud.
Florida also tends to play close games in SEC openers. Both teams could come out sloppy or both could come out and put up points. I like the under, but barely.
I like Miss State to cover. LSU has had so much turnover with such little practice, I think it’s going to be a sloppy lower scoring game.
The one thing that could let this one get away from State is if they can’t sustain drives. They are putting in a whole new high tempo offense and they lost a lot on defense. If they can sustain drives they can keep it close, but with so little practice Leach already said they will have to simplify the offense.
Looks like in the two competitive games there has been an adjustment towards reducing the usual homefield advantage – both Auburn/Kentucky and Tennessee/South Carolina have moved about 3 points in the visiting team’s favor since Monday.
I think its an accurate view of how the season will play out…15,000-20,000 fans just won’t have the same effect that 80,000 do.
