The SEC has six teams in the preseason Coaches Poll, so it’s safe to say the conference boasts some of the best players in the nation.

On Tuesday, The Big Lead released their list of the top 50 players in college football and, unsurprisingly, the SEC was well-represented.

Starting with LSU DE Arden Key at No. 5 overall, the SEC has 13 players on the list, as you can see below:

  • No. 5 — Arden Key, DE/OLB, LSU
  • No. 10 — Minkah Fitzpatrick, DB, Alabama
  • No. 12 — Derrius Guice, RB, LSU
  • No. 21 — Christian Kirk, WR, Texas A&M
  • No. 22 — Calvin Ridley, WR, Alabama
  • No. 26 — Bo Scarbrough, RB, Alabama
  • No. 28 — Da’Ron Payne, DT, Alabama
  • No. 39 — Nick Chubb, RB, Georgia
  • No. 40 — Rashaan Evans, LB, Alabama
  • No. 41 — Frank Ragnow, C, Arkansas
  • No. 43 — Braden Smith, OT, Auburn
  • No. 45 — Kamryn Pettway, RB, Auburn
  • No. 50 — Trenton Thompson, DT, Georgia

Alabama leads the SEC with five players on the list, but LSU has two of the top 12 players in Key and Guice.

Of note, Chubb and Thompson are the only players from the SEC East represented in the rankings.

Who do you think was snubbed and who is rated too high or too low?
