Big Ten responds to President Trump, issues statement regarding meeting

The Big Ten Conference Tuesday afternoon responded to President Trump’s tweet about having a conversation with Commissioner Kevin Warren.
It also said that it was a productive meeting, and then outlined how it plans to get its athletics programs back in action. The Big Ten said its various committees are, “exhausting every resource to help get student-athletes get back to playing the sports they love, at the appropriate time, in the safest and healthiest way possible.”
Conversely, the other major conference that is not playing this fall is the Pac-12, but its spokesperson said it hadn’t heard from the White House.
The Big Ten has reportedly discussed playing an 8-game season either at Thanksgiving, or in January, but nothing has been confirmed other than the traditional fall schedule wouldn’t happen.
One option is to play games in domed stadiums in major cities around the Midwest.
Trump has been a big proponent of playing the season, as he earlier this summer retweeted Clemson QB Trevor Lawrence, who led a “We Want to Play” movement, and spoke with LSU coach Ed Orgeron about the season.

Had a very productive conversation with Kevin Warren, Commissioner of the Big Ten Conference, about immediately starting up Big Ten football. Would be good (great!) for everyone – Players, Fans, Country. On the one yard line!
