Thursday was a great day on the recruiting trail for the Tigers as top in-state running back Asa Martin committed to Auburn over Alabama, Clemson, and Florida. Martin made the announcement during a live ceremony at his Alabama high school, Austin High.

“I’m blessed to be in this position… but I decided to go with my heart and attend the University of Auburn,” Martin announced on stage in front of a packed auditorium at his high school.

Following his commitment, Auburn now has 13 pledges lined up in its 2018 recruiting class. Martin joins Shaun Shivers as the only running backs committed to Auburn’s latest recruiting class.

The 5-foot-11, 200-pound Martin ranks as a four-star prospect, the No. 10 overall running back in the nation and the No. 7 recruit from the state of Alabama for the 2018 recruiting cycle according to 247Sports Composite Rankings. Martin played for prestigious IMG Academy as a junior before returning home for his senior season.

“There is nothing like home, playing football and making memories with the people you love the most, so I am transferring back to Austin High School,” Martin announced last November on Twitter.
