Updated over/under odds for every SEC team
Bovada has released updated over/under odds on win totals for every team in the SEC.
SEC East
Florida: 8
Georgia: 9.5
Kentucky: 6
Missouri: 6
South Carolina: 6.5
Tennessee: 10
Vanderbilt: 6
Judging from these updated numbers, Vegas believes Tennessee should be favored to win the SEC East this upcoming season with somewhere around 10 wins. Georgia comes close behind at 9.5, with defending division champion Florida losing some ground at eight. South Carolina, Missouri, Kentucky, and Vanderbilt all appear to be hit-or-miss for bowl season. These seem fair.
SEC West
Alabama: 9.5
Arkansas: 7
Auburn: 7.5
LSU: 10.5
Mississippi State: 9.5
Ole Miss: 9.5
Texas A&M: 8
Here’s where things get interesting. Instead of reigning national champion Alabama, the likely favorite for No. 1 preseason accolades, getting the benefit of the doubt, its over/under has been set at 9.5 wins — tied with Ole Miss and Mississippi State. The Crimson Tide have won 11 regular season games in five straight seasons, but also face a daunting schedule that many are claiming to be one of the most difficult in the nation.
LSU has the best chance at winning 11-plus games during the 2016 regular season, according to Bovada, despite overwhelming uncertainty at the quarterback position. The Bulldogs, even without all-time great quarterback Dak Prescott, have a favorable line. Meanwhile, Arkansas, Auburn, and Texas A&M are all on the fringe of finishing as a sub-par bowl contestant or competing for the division.
LOL – MSU at 9.5? What are they smoking at Bovada?
Maybe they didn’t see where Prescott graduated?
I’d take that under all day. They’re going to have a tough out against BYU much less all of their SEC opponents.
The wager does not exist for msu.
Happy days! Every school, including KENTUCKY is going to a bowl!
If you pick over then yes. But that’s not saying they’re all making a bowl. Missouri Vandy and UK are basically choosing if they go to a bowl or not. It’s just like a line of 6 in a game. You’re deciding if a team wins by a TD or anything less.
Ya know it feels good people showing some faith in us.
Ky looks better this year than they have in the last 10
Lmao I’ll take under on MSU for 50k.
When can you lock in a bet on that line? I’ll take that in a heartbeat. They’ll be lucky to win 7 games.
Exactly. It’s not even a knock on MSU. 9.5 just isn’t realistic with this years team. For them to be over they’d have to beat 1 of these 3. Bama, LSU, Ole Miss. Don’t think they can pull that off. If they win 10 games this year I’ll give a homeless man my car.
Even some of their most loyal fans are saying they’ll be happy with 7-5 this year. They have to take 2 games @ LSU, @ Bama, @ Ole Miss and @ BYU. That’ assuming they can beat Auburn, A&M and Arkansas. State only has 3 sure wins on their schedule this year in S. Alabama, UMass and Samford. The only other games they are likely favored in will be Kentucky and S. Carolina. I just don’t see more than 7 for them.
Im homeless
Why are some people saying it is impossible for msu to get 9.5 wins? I know there are only 2 games that we will absolutely lose (Lsu and Alabama). Then the other 2 threats are Ole Miss and Texas A&M. And if we lose those four, we will still have 8 wins.
Wow! MSU fans have forgotten that before the last four years Arkansas had won 12/13 against the bullies. We are now not even a threat.
I’m not saying this just because I am an Ole Miss fan, I’m saying this because I follow SEC football religiously: State has the least talented roster in the SEC West (from a recruiting rankings standpoint). You have a secondary that was scorched by every team with a decent QB last year. Your offensive line was abused on a regular basis and, without Dak being a great QB, really hurt your offensive production. The running game was awful. You return one good receiver. You don’t know who your QB is yet, which isn’t saying you won’t have a good one.
Then we add the schedule to that. 3 sure wins (S. Alabama, UMass, Samford),4 toss-up games (S. Carolina, @BYU, @Kentucky and Arkansas) and and 5 really tough games (@LSU, Auburn, Texas A&M, @Alabama and @Ole Miss). LSU and Bama are favored to win the West, Auburn will have a really good defense this year, A&M is my sleeper pick if they can get their act together and the Egg Bowl has only been as close as Freeze has wanted it to be. State will have a good team but good isn’t going to cut it in the West when Mullen is being out-recruited on a yearly basis.
I get what you are trying to say, but I am just looking at the bright side of things( like if no one gets injured or suspended ect.). And I am so certain we do not have the least talented roster in the West (I think it is Arkansas and maybe Auburn). I think with this new defensive scheme we are going with will really help this defense( at least in the front 7). I am mostly comfortable with where our offense is at right now. I think our o-line will get better and we have more than one good receiver coming back( some people may not know this due to Dak throwing the ball to Ross and Wilson so much). And there was no reason for a run game for us because our o-line was so bad. Just hopefully one of our quarter backs are consistently average or good.
MSU’s secondary was better than you give them credit for, near the top of the division in passing yards allowed and TD’s allowed. Also the defense was 7th in the country in total tackles, which isn’t always a good thing. It was Ole Miss whose secondary was scorched in every game with a good QB. Correct about our O-line problems, that is why they didn’t win 10-11 last year.
People forget MSU has won 9 or more games in 3 of the last 6 years, and currently back to back years. Also Mullen won 9 games with Chris Relf at QB, who probably would have been 3rd string on a lot of SEC teams
Yes but Dak is gone and you have no running game either. With no running or passing game (proven at least) how could anyone put money on over? And your secondary is laughable. You’ll be lucky to win 8 games this year and this is from a guy who thought you’d win 10 last year. It’s a rivalry, but I try to be as realistic as possible here.
Possible – yeah. In a pigs eye.
Betting is about probability – and the probability is MSU comes closer to 4.5 than 9.5.
I suggest you put down $10K on MSU and let us know how that went at the end of the season.
Wow – yes very surprising where they placed MSU. All projections up to this point put us last in the west. I agree that it’s very optimistic. But I think we may end up being stronger than some of these unbiased rebels predict with their very insightful comments lol. If you dig a little deeper you’ll see we have quite a few decent players coming back. I actually expect the defense to be pretty solid. There are certainly question marks on offense – how long the qb issue will take to be settled, though all the candidates are talented; the OL did stink last year, but now are one year more experienced and should be improved; same for the running backs. There could be some surprises for everyone in 2016. Sooo looking forward to this year and how it falls out. And WooPig, who cares about 10 years ago – the only thing that counts is current history and this coming year – each year and each team is different.
Hey look, we’ve moved from tied for last to ever so slightly above last. Whoo!
After reading the article I promptly visited the Bovada website to bet the under on msu.
I am sad to say the wager does not exist, if it did it was a gross error and was removed.
