Exciting news came out of Atlanta Friday as it was announced that the new home of the Atlanta Braves, SunTrust Park, will host college football next season.

Jacksonville State and Kennesaw State will play on November 17, 2018, and the field should be absolutely incredible.

The Braves official Twitter account shared a rendering:

Kennesaw State University is the perfect partner for the Atlanta Braves in hosting the first NCAA football game at STP. KSU and STP are both located within Cobb County, just on the outskirts of Atlanta.

KSU launched their football program as an FCS member in 2015, but they are looking to grow quickly. Kennesaw State is the fourth largest public university in the state of Georgia and possesses the location, amenities, and backing to develop into a potential Division-I program.

The irony of the entire arrangement is that Turner Field, the former home of the Braves, was bought by Georgia State to transform into their home stadium.

The powerhouse school in the state of Georgia remains UGA with Georgia Tech a distant second and Georgia Southern as a school on the rise. With that being said, Georgia State and Kennesaw State have the location and potential to grow their programs into respectable competitors.
