Can Alabama beat Georgia? Paul Finebaum weighs in on potential SEC Championship Game

Georgia has its spot in the SEC Championship Game locked up.

Alabama is leading the SEC West with only 3 games left in the regular season.

Could we be heading toward a showdown between the top 2 teams in the College Football Playoff rankings in Atlanta the first Saturday in December? As of right now, it sure looks that way.

On Sunday morning, SEC Network host Paul Finebaum joined SportsCenter to discuss that potential matchup. He said Alabama wouldn’t win now, but there’s still time for the Tide to improve:

“Right now, I’m not sure you could get Nick Saban to say that Alabama could beat Georgia 4 weeks from now,” Finebaum said on SportsCenter. “But that’s a long way off, and what I mean by that is the offensive line has to get better. The starting center was knocked out of the game yesterday, and Alabama simply couldn’t do anything on the offensive line. Special teams were shaky. They have one of the best kickers in the country. He missed a field goal and extra point for the first time in years, and that has to be corrected. They have an easy game next week and then Arkansas and then the Iron Bowl before Georgia shows up on the schedule.”

Will the Tide and Bulldogs indeed meet with an SEC title on the line? That would be a huge game with big-time Playoff implications if it does come to pass.
