Arizona Cardinals defensive end JJ Watt is hanging it up.

The former Houston Texans standout announced he was retiring at the end of the season via Twitter on Tuesday. Watt has had his ups and downs due to injury issues, but had a storied career overall as a 3-time Defensive Player of the Year and a winner of the Walter Payton Man of the Year Award.

Watt was a 2-time NFL sack leader, was named to the 2010s All-Decade Team and is very much expected to find his way into the Hall of Fame.

Over this season, he totals 33 combined tackles (26 solo), 10.5 sacks, 6 passes defended, 1 forced fumble and 1 fumble recovery. On his career, he posts an impressive stat line of 580 total tackles (444 solo), 111.5 sacks, 69 passes defended, 2 interceptions, 27 forced fumbles and 17 fumble recoveries.
