Tennessee, Notre Dame and Ohio State have been the top contenders to land Tate. Tate’s top 5 shared on March 15 included Alabama and Georgia, but not LSU. Of the 4 finalists, Tate only used official visits at Tennessee (April 8) and LSU (April 22). When all visits, including unofficial visits, are tallied, Notre Dame (7 total visits) and Ohio State (6 visits) lead the way.
Tate, from Chicago, began his career at Marist High School. Ahead of his junior season, Tate transferred to the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida. Tate is listed at 6-2, 185 pounds and rated 5-stars, the No. 3 wide receiver, No. 7 Sunshine State recruit and No. 28 prospect overall nationally in the class of 2023 on the 247Sports Composite.
Tate’s 5-star skills are on display in his highlights below, from MaxPreps:
So he’s going to Ohio State then?
There’s a 25% chance you’re right. Other than that you have no more clue than anyone else. He has kept it close to the vest. None of these teams will surprise me
Notre Dame is about an hour from where he grew up and the most storied program in CFB history, plus 7 visits. Ohio St, Georgia and Alabama would put him in the CFB playoff almost every year. Then there was UT?
The kid picked Ohio St because of players sent to the NFL recently, Olave and Garrett. I keep telling you Vol fans that players like Tillman passing up the pros for yet ANOTHER year of college FB, does nothing for recruiting.
