College football handicapper Danny Sheridan has made a living picking college football games. His pick to win the College Football Playoff in 2018 may not sit well with SEC fans.

Much like 2016, Sheridan sees the Clemson Tigers getting in the way of Alabama’s bid to repeat as national champions.

“It looks like they have four first-round draft choices on the defensive line. They’re double-digit favorite over everyone including Florida State. They’re a huge favorite at South Carolina. The only team that can beat Clemson is Clemson,” Sheridan told Saturday Down South after speaking to the Fightin’ Gator Touchdown Club in Gainesville, Fla.

Part of Sheridan’s reason for picking Clemson is the Tigers’ path to a playoff bid. To win it all, a team has to earn a spot in the final four.

“So, yeah, they have the easiest schedule. On the other hand, anybody in the SEC has a brutal schedule, I don’t care what they say,” Sheridan said.

In addition to Clemson, Sheridan sees Alabama coming out of the SEC, Washington out of the Pac-12 and Penn State out of the Big Ten as the four Playoff teams.

“Penn State is a hunch. I think this year they will beat Ohio State,” Sheridan said.
