Athletic directors and CEOs of the Big 12 – minus Texas and Oklahoma – held a conference call on Thursday to discuss the biggest news of the college football offseason: OU and the Longhorns appear to want to join the SEC.

College football insiders have started sharing some interesting tidbits on Twitter.

Ross Dellenger of Sports Illustrated shared what the “next step” is for the other members of the Big 12:

The next step: a group of Big 12 presidents plan to connect with those schools’ leaders in hopes of learning why.

Brett McMurphy of Stadium heard similarly:

[L]eague wants to know Texas & OU’s motivations to leave for SEC. “Is it financial? Or other issues? What would it take for them to stay?”

While the lack of participation on the call from Oklahoma and Texas representatives was seen as a sign that the Sooners and Horns are ready to leave for the SEC, at least one person close to the situation has not yet conceded that the conference will lose the two powerhouse programs.

“I don’t think it’s 100% they’re gone,” McMurphy’s source told the reporter.

The Big 12 ADs and CEOs believe Texas A&M was behind the bombshell report from Brent Zerneman of the Houston Chronicle, according to Dellenger:
